3D LiDAR: “New Technology in Your Old Burying Ground.”

Thomas Elmore presents at the Connecticut Gravestone Symposium sponsored by the Connecticut Gravestone Network in Middletown, CT on March 30, 2019.  Mr. Elmore shows his new technology can advance documentation of your old burying ground.  Using a hand-held LiDAR scanner, Tom creates fast and accurate 3D models of cemeteries in digital format.  He explains what LiDAR is and provides examples of current uses that are in the news.  He explains how it differs from ground penetrating radar (GPR) and how he got involved with it.  Tom provides several examples of different cemeteries and how he uses the information. He explains how LiDAR is be used to make 3D digital models and 2D drawings using third party software.  His company teams with Radar Solutions International, Inc., a GPR company located in Waltham, MA (www.radar-solutions.com) to provide above and below ground imagery of cemeteries.  The two firms are expanding their capabilities to provide similar solutions to other industries.
